MCC Volunteer Day

A couple weekends ago my dad, Char, and I went to an MCC volunteer day at Carpenter Nature Center down by Hastings. We did some trail work until it looked like it was going to storm. So then we picked raspberries and had lunch with the youth crew. It was so great because I saw Alyson, who I hadn't seen since 2006! She was the camp's director this summer. I also got to meet her grandma and see her mom, Robin, again. I got to meet the crew and one of their crew leaders was Eric, who was a corpsmember my last summer at camp when I was a swamper in 2006. One of the youth gave a speech about MCC and it made me cry! I'm seriously considering going back next summer. After lunch, we looked at the animals in the visitor center. They were pretty dang cool.

Tortoise from Africa

A baby snapping turtle! So cute when they're that little.

I think this is a Harrier Hawk

Peregrine falcon I think

Later that night, I went to Anna's Aunt Gail and Uncle Tom's house. We met our first summer at MCC, in 2004. She was 15 and I was 16 and we've been close friends ever since! I hadn't seen her since February or March so it was a long-awaited reunion. We had a delicious dinner of salmon, pasta, and corn on the cob. Love you Anna!
